Paris 2025 is here, and it’s the perfect time to rediscover the city after an unforgettable Olympic year.

From hosting the iconic Olympic Games to redefining its urban landscape, the city embraced a monumental transformation.

1. Highlights of the Paris Olympics to remember in 2025

A Summer to Remember

Horse on the Seine at Paris 2024 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony

Paris wowed the world with a one-of-a-kind opening ceremony on the Seine:

A horse galloping on the river,

A powerful "Marseillaise" sung from the Grand Palais,

And Céline Dion giving us goosebumps with an unforgettable "Hymne à l'Amour" from the Eiffel Tower...

It was a world premiere and the perfect showcase of Paris’ magic and the French spirit.

Iconic venues came to life: fencing at the Grand Palais, volleyball under the Eiffel Tower, and the marathon winding through historic neighborhoods.

The city buzzed with excitement as locals and visitors celebrated the true spirit of the Games.

Paris in the Spotlight

The Olympics weren’t just about sports; they also showcased the city’s cultural and culinary richness.

Temporary food markets, outdoor performances, and late-night gatherings made 2024 a summer to remember.

2. Paris 2025: The Legacy of the Games

New Urban Experiences

The Games left behind pedestrian-friendly areas and cycling paths, making Paris even more enjoyable to explore.

Upgraded public transport, including new metro lines (one connecting Paris with Orly airport), now links more neighborhoods to the heart of the city.

Swimming in the Seine—Really?!

One of the ambitious projects tied to the Games was cleaning up the Seine to make it swimmable by 2024.

And yes, it’s now technically possible to take a dip... The Mayor and some Ministers made a point to prove it. But let’s be honest, no one’s really talking about the aftermath of those swims, if you know what I mean.

As far as I’m concerned, like most Parisians, I’d recommend admiring its beauty from one of the city’s gorgeous bridges instead.

3. Parisian Icons Return

Notre Dame de Paris after its reopening

The Reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris

After five years of meticulous restoration following the devastating 2019 fire, 2024 marked the long-awaited reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral.

The world gathered in awe as the iconic Gothic masterpiece reopened its doors, revealing breathtaking restored interiors and a renewed spirit.

Climbing its famous towers for a view of the city will feel even more magical in 2025. I must confess, I’m eagerly waiting for that experience! (Promise, I’ll make a post when I do.)

If you haven’t yet seen Notre-Dame in all its glory, 2025 is the perfect time to do so.

The Grand Palais & Its Stunning Glass Roof

2024 also marked the reopening of a 19th-century masterpiece: the Grand Palais.

After years of renovations, everything was perfectly timed to be ready for the Olympic Games. And what a transformation it was!

This winter, the Grand Palais delighted Parisians and visitors with the world’s largest indoor ice rink.

Trust me, ice skating under that stunning glass dome is a one-of-a-kind experience—though trying not to bump into fellow skaters adds its own challenge!
